It is expected that the rate will be higher at the end of the month. Money is abundant. A tender for £300,000 for Canterbury debentures, at C per cent., lias been opened, the minimum fixed was £'92. <£'47,000 were applied for, and only <£3'''oo were at or above the minimum. Wellington 8 per cent, debentures for .£50,000 were taked up at and above the minimum, •£IOO. r J"ho and A. C. There are few transactions, ana only for immediate consumption at last sale's rates. Xt is anticipated there will be large arrivals m the Northern market, causing custoiners to buy sparingly. The exports for the month ex Stables' Circular to 15th February, show a nett reduction of £381,470 —to Melbourne, £215,040 ; to Sydney and Queensland, £59,G44; £7,000 to Adelaide j Tasmania and XJ"e>v Zealand are about the same as last month j should moderate shipments and increased ease in discounts continue, confidence wiil be restored in the Australian markets. PRODUCE MARKETS. Hides. —Australian, small sales at slight decrease. steady; there is a demand for Australian at full prices. Sheepskins are a shade lower, but the bulk have been disposed of at fair prices.
