AUCKLAND INSURANCE COMPANY.

The third half-yearly general meeting of the Auckland Insurance Company,-was held in the Company's office, Queen-st., on Wednesday, at noon. There were present, Messrs. F. L. Prime, H. Asher, S. H. Smith, G-. Holdship, Johns, M. Somerville, A. Oliver, Sherrard, Hamilton, Bloomfield, Hughes, and Knox. On the motion of Mr. Prime, seconded by Mr. Ashton, Mr. S. H. Smith was called to the chair. The Chaibman read the notice convening the

meeting. The minutes of the last half-yearly meeting were read and confirmed. BEPOBT, &C. The Secretary then read the following Beport and Balance Sheet for the half-year ending August 14th, 1866 : : — Third report of the Directors for the half-year ending 10th August, 1866. In presenting to the Shareholders a statement of the business of the Company for the past half-year, your Directors have pleasure in raporting a satisfactory accession of new business, amounting to £793 lis. which sum together with the premiums received for renewal of policies issued during the corresponding period last year, makes an aggregate amount of £i2UO Is. 4d. in the Fire Department alone.

'The contingent liabilities unadjusted, at the last half-yearly meeting, together with losaes sustained during the present half-year, which have bean heavy, hnve bean paid, still leaving a balance amounting to £158 16s. 7d. which your Directors propose to carry forward cowards liabilities that arose just as the financial half-year closed, and for which they hope to pr.ivide without having occasion to dviw on the present reserve fund. The Director who retires, in accordance with the 71.-.t clause of the Articles of Association is S. Hague Smith, tfsq., who being eligible, oif*r® himself, and ii recommended by the Boar<? for re-election.

It will also devolve on this meeting to two Auditors for the ensuing year, in the room of J. 8. To!e, Esq., and 0. Arthur Esq., and who present themselves for re electi to.

We have examined the above balance sheet summary and accounts of the Auckland Insurance Company, and compared them with the books, vouchers, writings and documents concerning; them, and finding them correct, have to report that the balance sheet now presented to the shareholders is a full and trua statement of the affairs of the Company. Mr. M. Somerville moved that Mr. S. H. Smith be re-elected a director for the ensuing half-year. Mr. Shebbabd seconded the motion. The motion was then put and passed. ELECTION OP AUDITORS.

Mr. Hughes moved that Messrs. Tole and Arthur be re-elected Auditors. Mr. Ash ton seconded the motion. There being no further business the meeting separated.—Sept. 20.
