The Pakekara Bedoubthas this week been levelled by order, I believe, of tho Colonel commanding, «nd tho detachment of tho Keghnent occupying it has returned to h.:ai-quarters. A redoubt, situated in a very commanding position, called the " Crow's Nest," is still occupied by a detachment of the Ist Regiment.

Colonel Lyon, commanding the Regiment, paid ub a visit for a few days, and returned to Auckland in the beginning of tho week. The u-uai Resident Magistrate's Court was held on Tuesday last, before R. Muinwaring, Esq., R.M*> \V. C. Lyon, Esq., and W. Clare, Esq., JF.'a. Among other cases heard was one in which Dr. Sam appeared to answer a charge of assault preferred against him by Edward Lambert, hits shool-master-sergeant. Our worthy Esculapms was this this time, however, so clearly in tho light that the Bench, without hesitation, dismusfld the charge.
