TE AWAMUTU.
[FROM or 11 OWN CORRESPONDENT.3 November 23. A detachment of the Goth regiment, under command of Ensign Acheson of that corps, arrived in camp on tbe 22nd instant; the strength of the above detachment, being 27 rank and file, came from Auckland, where they of late bad formed part of a depot company with portions of some of tlie other corps. I hear that there are a few others to leave Auckland to join the bead-quarters of the Gsth regiment. I should almost think that fliis is a useless movement, as the regiment cannot remain up bete many months now. There is an expedition to go out to-morrow, at halfpast fi o'clock a.m. 1 here lias been a great deal of drunkenness here since the opening of the canteens. In fact, that crime is on tbe increase lately. It is strongly reported np hero that the natives are to get back their land again at Kangiawahia, and also that there are not to be any more improvements made at Kiln Kilii at present, but whether this will turn out true or not 1 cannot say, but time will tell. 'J he second Spring Meet ing of the To Awamutu races takes place on the 29th and 30th November, lSf>4.
