QUEEN'S REDOUBT.

fl-KOAT OUK OWX COiaiESI'ONDEKT.] October 12. The ' 0 uuclagiu' arrived at the Bluff on the lOlli, brin "ing down a detachment of the Commissariat Stair Corps, en route to Auckland, and, as it is believed, from thence to 'L'aranaki. To-(I;iy, at S a.m., the detachments of Nos. 5, G, r.nd 9 companies, 50th regiment, maioliod for Auckland, and is understood to°he for the name station. Most regiments have a pet of some sort, such as a clog, goat, &e., but the 50th regiment has a young foal taktn at Rangiawhia, arid, I believe, belongs to Colour-Sergeant Pike. He inarched in front of the detachment (the pony I mean), and was adorned with ribbons like a recruiting sergeant. As I said before, wherever the 50th go they always carry the good wishes of both their comrades and civilians, and the reputation they have gained as the "Fighting 50th" has been gallantly earned. We are sorry to loso them. They have left about 100 non-commissioned ollicors and men here, besides the men of the, different departments. The mail was, as once before, not delivered at the proper time on Monday ; taking the down mail and bringing it back again, so leaving ns again without our usual bit of news ; but it is trusted that, as we are Bituated, it will not happen again. Wejhave line weather now, and the crops that have been town look very favourable.

October 12. Since "writing my last, of some date, the ' Pioneer* arrived with about UCO men of the 18th Royal Irish regiment. 'Jhe men appear to be in good health and spirits after their rather long campaign at the Front. They remain hi-re for the present. 'I'lie remainder of the detachment of the f.Oth regiment stationed her, under command of Lieutenant-Colonel Haiuley marched from here this morning.
