LABOUR.

To the Editor of the Nk\v Zealand Hekalb. Sin, —It was with no little degree of astonishment that 1 read in your paper of to-day that many men are in Auckland unable to get employment. 1 know that so high has been the rate of wages of late that many of my brother farmers have been obliged to discontinue all work excepting that of the most pressing description. A friend of mine for the last two months has been endeavouring to get- a farm servant oil the following terms. The servant- to look after tlio stock on u" improved farm, and fill up his time by feneing, A'-. The employer oilers £(iO a year; a new weatherboard 5-room bouse, garden, and firewood free; the privilege of keeping poultry, and milk enough for the family, without charge. The situation is in inhabited district on the Great South Koad, and within a mile and a quarter of a good market, have heard that the last servant- on the farm (a mo-' industrious man) lias cleared as much as £- a week on his eggs, and his wife £3 a week more by washing—all this in addition to his wages. There cannot be so much to complain of when sueli situations as the above remain unfilled. 1 am, ie., AGIiICOtA.
