Tx to-day's issue will be found a plan of the township"of Havelock, to be sold on Monday next, by Mr. S. Cochrane, further particulars of which property will appear in our Saturday's issue. Wohks in Tictobia-steeet.—Our readers of yesterday morning will probably have wondered like ourselves, at the great discrepancy between the highest and the lowest tenders sent in for the performance of this work, £304 and £'62, (the accepted tender.) Yesterday however the Chairman of the Board received a letter from Mr. David Evans, stating that his tender had been framed under a misapprehension as to the finding of material and stating that he could not do the work tinder £110. No such offer could of course be received after the publication of the other tenders and the next lowest on the list is that of Messrs. John Moore and Co., at £'146 4s. Provincial Executive.—Our readers wiii perceive that the Hon. J*. A. Giltillan, M. L. C. and Samuel Jackson, Esq., have both been appointed members of the Provincial Executive Council. Phince of "Wales Theatre.—Last evening the two act drama of the " Cross of Gold, or the return of the Veteran," was presented to a good audience and much applauded. After the usual intermission dance, the evening's entertainment concluded with a laughable farce. "Jocrisse, the Juggler," w ill be given to-night for the last time. . Th VTCHF.H.—This entertainment was repeated again last night; the hall was well filled. Among those present were the Superintendent, Mr. Bus sell, of Sydney, and a large party. The different songs were loudly encored, among the most popular of which, was one on " Conciliation." Two new songs, the ' Scamperdown, and the late 'Slaughter at Taranaki,' were given, and well received. , r t , ~ „ .'Newmabket Land Sale.—Yesterday Mr. b. Cochrane submitted to auction at his store, Fort Street, forty-nine valuable allotments at ,the junction of the Kyber Pass and Newmarket 'roads. There was an excellent attendance, and Ithe bidding spirited. The total sum realized was .£4,250. The prices for the several allotments, excluding the corner one at Kyber Pass, varied from £4 to £1 per foot according to

situation. The corner lot when first put up* liuns at £6 155., but ultimately realised £9 sa. per foot.

Messrs. E. Turabull and D. Sheehan are also gazetted as the City Board. A list of Crown Grants lying: at the Waste Lands Office ready for isßue is also" published; Chamber of Commebce.—Notice is given in' advertisements that the usual Monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, will be held at rooms, Port-street, on Thursday next at three o'clock, p.m. Tendees are required by the Provincial Government, and will be received until noon of Thursday, the 2Sth instant, at the Post Office, TTangarei, for clearing the road from Arapawa to Tokotoko on the Matakohe block; for clearing the road from Makarau to the Great North Koad ; for clearing the road from Tokotoko to Mangapai; and for clearing the road from the north branch of the Waipu through part of Murerutu, liuarangi, into the Mangapai settlement.
