When calcined m a platinum capsule, it left considerable residuum. Thefattv matter was separated by means of ether; and, after filtering etherated liquor, a. yellow suhBtaiicewas found, composed oi ehromate ot lead and ■i -vcetibl.' colouring matter, presenting all the ehara"tMri-.tic» of turmeric.
