LrnTi:i: nx En-XTmciTV.—Yesterday evenins; Mr. Ktaler. the schoolmaster of the I 'll) regiment, delivered a very interesting and instructive lecture on Fleetricity. illustrative of a series of amusing and beautiful experiments which he performed* with the assistance of a powerful galvanic battery. The attendance was small, very small. "We had expected to have seen the room of the Garrison Library crowded on this occasion, as it was generally known that the proceeds of the lecture were to be devoted to the use of the soldiers' wives and families. Independently of this, however, the lecture is itself sulliciently attractive to draw an audience, and we trust that this evening, which is the last occasion on which it will he delivered, that a full attendance will be given by the Auckland public. BiiooKYTM.l".—AYe have heard serious complaints amongst several of the purchasers of allotments on this property, that the morning after the stile, persons in the Freeman's Bay district allowed their cattle to trespass on the esttite. to the destruction of the shrubs and valuable fruit trees with which a large portion is planted, and in consideration of which a higher price was given than otherwise would have been i'or many of the allotments. "Wo are informed that Mr. Michael "Wood, although there is no ela iin upon him to do so. has very considerately ordered the immediate repair oi' the fences in those places where they were taken down in order thai the several streets could he plainly seen, and that nil arrangement has been made by the proprietors of some of the principal lots for causing any cattle trespassing 011 the estate to he impounded, as the law directs. J At night, too, persnns are in the habit of turning cattle out, into the streets, contrary to the Municipal Act . The night before last a while pig was rooting near the door step of the milliner's shop at the corner of Shortlaiulstreet and Princes-street. Tile same pig mav frequently be seen after dark in that localitv. Cattle are regularly turned out after nightfall, lo the destruction of any garden, the gate of which may he accidentally left open. Surely the police could put, a stop to this nuisance.
