Subjoined we furnish a very interesting statement showing the amount of Flax exported from this port during the first nine months the trade has existed. Also the quantity supposed to have been consumed in the place for rope making, which is a business destined to become very extensive here. Export of Phoemiom Tenax from Port Nicholson from Ist. April, to 31st. December, 1843 : — Tons. In the Clydeside . . 3 to London. Sisters. ... 5 to Hobart Town. Lady Leigh 25 to Sydney. Nelson .... 3 to London. Victoria . . 3 to London. Joseph Albino 6 to Adelaide. Tyne 10 to London, Indemnity . . 35 to London. 90 tons. Used in port for whale lines and other cordage.. 15 • Tatal 105 tons.
