The principal news from the *c new World" is the prevalence and extent of the Cholera, which was spreading rapidly. At New Orieam it was raging fearfully ; at Texas the same result ; and at Port Laveoe 135 persons died. One account says half & regimeut was swept off and the camp broken up. The proceedings in Congi ess were uninterresting. The admission of California as a State had been discussed, and a Committee appointed to inquire into the Bill; to which they raised a three-fold objection, viz. — that it was unconstitutional, unprecedented, and inexpedient ; the further consideration of the s>ubject was postponed.
