Government and Local Debentures,.—
Since onr last publication we are rejoiced to find that the small currency scraps of paper have been honorably withdrawn altogether from circulation by the respective issuers. It is but just to record that Messrs. Simms w&re the first to announce publicly, in consequence of the Government Gazette respecting Colonial Debentures, that they were prepared to redeem their own personal notes with specie. This example had the desired effect of ridding the town of Auckland of an unnecessary nuisance. We have heard that Captain Fitz Roy has relieved many poor persons, from the loss they might sustain, by giving* the full value to them of the few Government debentures of which they were in possession la.st Saturday. j
