In the latest list of military honours conferred on New Zealand soldiers appears the name of Lance-Sergeant J. 'f, Clearwater of Mataura, who had been awarded the Medaille Militaire, he being one of the twenty-two Now Zealand soldiers who.have received honours at the hands of our French ally (states the .Mataura Ensign), This young soldier, who is.the son of Mr and: Mrs I'. Clearwater, has. had a somewhat lengthy period, in the front line, and lias already.gained distinction by winning Hie English Military Medal, Three brothers arc also serving with the Expeditionary Forces.
Mr Samuel Heath Little, formerly- ot RaYPWsboume, died nt his residence in Auckland on Wednesday, in his eightieth year. For thirty-five years in Dunedin he held the post of accountant to Messrs Neill and Co., and was also very well known as an accomplished musician, acting as organist for the Moray Place Congregational Church for many years, lie left Dunedin for Auckland to benefit his wife's health, and upon her death some years ago lived for a time with his son, Dr (.'has. L'utle, at Waikari, Canteibnry. Subsequently he tool; up residence with his daughter in Auckland. The other son is MrTved. S. T. Little, of Dunedin.
