OAMARU FIRE BRIGADE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Oamaru Volunteer Firo Brigade 'was held last night; There was a large attendance of members, Superintendent James presided. The resignation of Fireman E, Hammill was received, and was accepted with' sincere regret, Messrs John Crombic and W. Curwood wrote thanking the brigade for I heir election as honorary members. Messrs I. Kear and W. H. Westphal were elected as honorary member. A field card was received from Fireman P. Healy, now at the front, and the seretary, conveyed greetings from Firemen ff. Hodgers, Philp, and Boss. The superintendent reported that since last meeting, lie had appointed Messrs C. C. Dawkins and D. Jackson as firemen. 'P.he superintendent's action was approved.

It was moved by Fireman Douglas

and seconded by, Fireman Harris, that the officers and honorary Fireman Roland be appointed a committee to draft rules for the guidance of honorary members. It. was resolved on the motion of Foreman T. Ilorron, that a visitors' book be procured, to be placed on the table, Fireman Mitchell was congratulated on his success on winning the first billiard tournament, It was decided that a. second tourna-

ment be commenced and it was suggested that the members be divided info two grade groups for handicaps. • For the next tournament',prizes it was stated that Mr T. L, Ralfe had donated a billiard cue and Mr W, Aikenhead an umbrella. A motion of condolence was passed ■o ihe lion, surgeon Dr. Orbell on the bereavement his family, had- sustained, The motion was passed while the membQi"! stood in silence, Accounts amounting to-8s 9d wore pasrcil for. payment. / .
