QUESTION OF FILM CENSORSHIP.

WELLINGTON, April 19.

A conference convened by the New Zealand Catholic Federation was held last' evening to consider matters in connection with the film censorship,. Tho following resolutions were passed;— "This conference of delegates from local governing bodies, educational authorities, and organisations concerned with the social welfare of tho Dominion, desires to thank the Government for placing on the Statute Book the Act under which all cinematograph films are subject to the revision of the official censor."

"This conference is of the opinion that as a right of appenl against tho decision of the censor is given by tho law to the picture lilm proprietors, an equal right should bo given to some body representing all sections of the public," "That the Government be requested toj legislate and amend the Cinematograph Film Censorship Act, 1916, in the direction above indicated, also to amend the Indecent Offensive Publications Act with, a view' to giving the police or municipal authorities power to prevent the display of posters and the. publication of advertisements which, while not actually immoral or indecent, are of an offensive or demoralising tendency." 1 ' ■; *»
