DISASTROUS FIRE AT TAURANGA.
ELEVEN BUSINESS HOUSES DESTROYED. AN ENQUIRY ORDERED. (Per Press Association.) TAURANOA, November 12, Early this morning, a (ire broke out in a block of old wooden buildings on the Strand, and, fanned by a strong easterly wind, destroyed eleven business premises, including the Commercial Hotel. 'The brigade had no chance of saving the buildings till the (ire reached n brick wall in one direction and a vacant section in the other, The (ire started in Bird's confectioner's shop, but the cause is unknown, The total losses are roughly estimated at £30,000, The Fire Board lias ordered an 'enquiry.
