OTEPOPO NOTES.
(from Our Own Correspondent.) The Inspector of Schools paid his annual visit to tho Otepopo School on Wednesday last, ami judging from all reports the scholars acquitted themselves in all the branches of study honourably, reflecting great credit upon the headmaster and staff, On Friday evening last an entertainment and social, on behalf of the Lady Liverpool Fund for the wounded sol-1 dievs was given in the Athemeum. There was a crowded house and all entered into the spirit of the evening, Many and varied were the gifts brought by the people. Lollies in tins, and other packages of ciga'rettes, etc,, were numerous, Over £4 in money was taken at Hip door, and it is thought that about £lO in all will represent these Christmas gifts to the soldiers in the trenches and in the hospitals, Miss Kirton, convener of the Fiinily along with hei stall of able workers deserve great praise for the splendid success of the evening. The following contributed to the programme: Messrs Shaw piano solo and song, and Meilde, E. Hutton, Wingfield and Miss J. McMillan, songs, and Mrs A. Frame and Ethel Forbes, recitations. At intervals games occupied the time. Mr A. J. Kitchen presided, and explained the object of the meeting, speaking on behalf of the need of such heroic work at (lie present lime, and tho assistance so generously given bv (lie people. Miss Kirton, in a maiden speech fliauked (lie people for their kindness, mid stated that there were llii'rly-two members contributing monthly lo the fund.
