Per Press Association. Christchurch, -Dec, 7. There werel'good in most departments and a large attendance. Fat cattle showed a further decline, young store sheep sold up to' last week's rates, but aged and low conditioned sorts were easier, There was an easier, tone in the lairfb market, and fat ewes were much' easier. Pigs were dull of sale, especially stores, and there was a good demand for stone and dairy cattle.

There, was a: large yarding' of stord sheep, but mostly, of a poor class. There was a . fair demand {or good young sheep, but, other deecriptions were down -about" Is per head. There were some fairly, large lines af owes and lambs, but the ewes showed the effects of the shortage of feed. Four-tooth wethers of medium qjliality made 10s to 12s, 2-tooth wethers 8s 10d;to 12s 6d 4-tooih ewes, 13s 3d, 6-tooth 12s 6d, full-mouthed 12s, aged ewes and lambs 5s 9dto 7s 6d (all counted), sounds-mouth ewes (in ■ wool and with lara'bs)-,9s 5d,, ond'hoggets) t 0 12s 6d.

There was an entry of 4617 fat lambs,- or 'double last week's total, including a 'good proportion of Prime ■quality, but at the same time there were a large number of unfinished lots. Several of the export buyers -ware operating on reduced limits of Price, as the prospective value in l London dora not warrant the rates that have Lately ruled here. The competition was therefore not keen for export, though the butchers operated rather more'ireely as lamb is more suitable for the trade during the present hot weather. There were' 3191 taken for export at lis 9d to 17a 6(1, 861 by butchers aij 9s 4d to 15s 7'd, 156 by graziers -at 103 8d to Us 4d, -and 409 passed in at lis 9d to 15s sd.

The yarding of fat sheep was about the same as last week, in Point of numbers, but ewes formed a larger proportion than,of late. There was a good demand for wethers, and -they maintained their values 'well, king about epal to last week. There was, however, a decline of Is to 2s per head,, in ewes, but even the best classes of ewes of these did not sell up to last week's prices, The range of toq : Prime wethers 16s fid \o 18s, lighter 14s 6d to IBs, prime ewes 14s, extra, 17s to 17s 6d, obhers 9s to 13s 6d, hoggets 12s 9d, merino wethers 10s 6d,

The yarding of beef totalled 571 head of good average quality, and including some Very prime steers. The sale was irregular, and on the whole 1 values were easier by about Is per 1001b. A number of lots were passed, The range of prices was : Steers £6 to £lolos, extra to £l2 2s Od, heifers £5 2s fid to £8 10s (equal to 25s to 27s 6d for prime, 23s to 24s'for medium, and to 22s for cow and inferior per 100 lbs.)Veal calves sold freely at 5s Gd to £2l9s.

Store Cattle formed a small yarding, but' they sold well, especially 3-year-oM steers -and yaarlings made 345, 15 to IS months £2 10s, 1 2-year steers £3 15s, 2-year heifers £3 19s, 3-year steers £5 to £5 lis, 3-year heifers £4 103, and dry. cows 30s to £4lss, Dairy Cows are in good demand, at £3 Ms to £9l7s fid, A full yarding of pigs met with a dull demand, and prices.were easier all round.' Large baconers made 50s to 555, smaller 40s to 48s (equal to 4d to 4|d per lb), medium stores 15s to 21s, smaller 7s to 14s, and weancrs to 10s 9d- to Gs 6d,
