Bates' summary and forecast are; The weather has been sultry in many parts, and rain has fallen in most districts of,tbd South)lsland and in places on.the West Uoast of the' North Island. Moderate to strong northerly and westerly winds have; prevailed, and the barometer has fallen steadily except in. thefar south, where a slight rise took place in the night. The present indications are • for rain and misty, weather in most parts of the country, and thunderstorms in places,' Variable northerly and westerly/winds will probably prevail and veer to southerly for a short time. The. barometer is unsteady, but • will prcbeMy rise soon for a brief period.
INVBROARGILL. December 7. A distressing tragedy occurred at Woodlands this evening, resulting fa the death, of Dr Green, of Woodlands, The doctor was motoring across the railway, and somehow failed to: see the train coming to town from the Gore show, and came into collision with it. Dr Green was killed and his companion in the car (Miss M'L«od) was stunned and. badly shaken, Dr Green, who previously lived at Winton, recently went to Woodlands, where he had bought a farm and was also Practising his profession. .
