The adjourned inquest "into thei . circumstances surrounding the death of Stephen Frederick Parker, "aged GO, was resumed last evening, the inquiry lasting seven hours. Evidence was given that deceased and his mate had 'been drinking and .were walking 'home when thre& horsemen rode up.- Deceased lurched -intrant' of a horse ridden by Hofckley, and was knocked' down, sustaining, injuries to his temple., Hockley and his friends dismounted \aijd. attended to; deceased till he was on his ffeet again. Deceased walked away, 'but later sat down Tjy the road and went to sleep. He was found by thelicensee of the Kaihw Hotel on Sunday morning, and attended to till Monday morning, when he'was taken to the hotpital, death ensuing soon after admission;., Dr Young deposed that his life' might have been saved if be had been brought- in' sooner. The Coroner returned a verdict feha : tj death was due to injuries as the Result of being knocked down by a horse ridden by Hockley. It is understood the police will take further proceedings.
