Kggington was chief steward, and Jl'iss logon stewardess. The other members ot tho crew totalled eight. There wero » number of passengers from Russell, and the cargo consisted chiefly o'i Oysters. The Muritai was an iron Bteamer, of 225 tons gross, and was built at Paisley, Scotland, in ISSI. She traded on the Australian coast for some years, and in 1897 was purchased by the Northern Company. •This makes the, second vessel the Nor*Wn Company have lost during twelve months, the other vesthe Kia Ora.
