Speaking of the relations of the party,-lie said lie could not conceive that tlio Opposition, which' had' handed together to criticise proposed legislation, should break up its organisation, abandon itj work, and . join the Government ranks, when there was no real occasion fo; them, .to do . so. Sir Joseph Ward should, declare on the platform whether ho was content, to keep the incon gruous part of his party together. Touching on socialism, he pointed out the dangers that would accrue from it if carried to its logical conclusion. The remainder of the speech dealt mainly with a review of the work of the last session'. Be was accorded a vote of ihaiiks 'aiid confidence. AUCKLAND, May 27. The Hon. Geo. Fowlels addressed his constituents at Grey Lynn to-night. Speaking of.', educational matters he suid be hoped next session to be able to do something in the direction of increasing the staffing of schools, which had not been progressing at ft rato equal to ilio increase of scholars. There was amongst educationists fl consensus of. opinion against uniformity in school books, but lie hoped to bo able to do something to remove the cause for complaint in tins lnatter. He defended his action in regard to Tc Oranga Home at some ienirtli,. and at the conclusion of the jiddress bo received a vote oi thanks {i:id confidence.'
