SHOCKING DEATH.

By, Telegraph. Lyttelton, April 14. About 8 o'clock on Saturday night an. el-dcrly lady named. Mrs Amelia Bispliam, wife of George Bisphani, of Nelson, was run over and killed alongside the railway platform at Lyttelton. Mrs Bispriam, who w a s staying .with her brother, Mr Byron, bootmaker, Lyttelton, lelo Christohuroh at 7.35 p.m. by the special through steamer train with passengers Tor the Mararoa. On reaching Lyttelton the train slowed down considerably- Mrs Bispham evidently attempted to alight on the eastern end of the platform, and fell under the carriage, and was killed instantly. Her body was shockingly marbled, Her chest was crushed in and the lelt lee .completely sovcrod by the wheels. An inquest was held this afternoon, when the jury returned a verdict of accidental death. There was no evidence _to show how she got under the train.
