AUCKLAND. October 21.

The Anglican Bishop of Auckland (Bishop Cowio) paid a visit to General Booth to-day. A deputation from the Minister's Association also welcomed him. General Booth addressed a crowded meeting at the City Hall to-night, explaining his Bchome for the relief of the terrible misery of the masses in London. He maintained that the people whom ho proposed to bring to tho colonies would b» useful members of the community, and not criminals or paupers. The object of tho scheme is to settle peoplo on the land in a systematic way, and he believed there was capacity in theso colonies to maintain ono hundred and thirty million poople in as much comfort as the three million who are here to-day, His scheme, h« eaid, would remove tho over-competition now in the labor market, and there would be no danger of over production of food.
