Melbourne, October 10 Tho Marine Board has decided to charge the captains of the Eaaby and Gam bier with misconduct. A desperate encounter took place last night between a police constable nnd a housebreaker at Muddy CreeUJPt Ymra Glen district. The latter is supposed to be a French escapee from New Caledonia, and, during tho struggle the constable narrowly escaped being shot with a revolver. Eventually he shot the Frenchman dead.
