AUCKLAND. June 25.

The Kaihu Valley railway plant and rolling stock was offered by auction today. There was a small attendance. There was no bid. The conditions were L5OO deposit with each bid. The railway cost L 60.000. At a meeting of the Shop Assistants' Union the Shop Hours Bill was discussed, and several amendments were suggested. Funds are to be sent to the Auckland members to assist to defray the expenses of getting the Bill through. A vote of thanks was recorded to Mr Joyce, MHR, for his exertions in the early closing movement. A resolution was passed opposing ?) the policy of the Government in re-introducihg the Labor Bills, and asking the Government to pass the Shop Hours Bill this session.
