TIMARU. July 19.
The funer.il of tlio lato Mr K. Turnbull, M.11.R, look place this afternoon, the weather bciny firm there was a largo attendance, nearly 500 persons walking two and two, and about 40 vehicles. Mr Wray, K.M., represented tlio Cabinet. The Borough Council, Friendly Societies, Fire Brigade, and Garribou Band took part. The delay of the steamer upset tho lirst arrangement, and prevented tho hour of the ceremony being known in tho country, or tho attendance would havo been larger. Mr C. E. Cooper, Collector of Customs, who died yesterday, aged 58, came to tho colony as a child in 18i0 wifch his father, who was Customs oflicer at Auckland for some years. The deceased entered tho CiLsfcoms .service at Lytlelton in 1833, and wai placed in charge of Tunaru in 1805, and had been hero ever since.
