NAPIER. January 26.

Mr Vautier's three-masted schooner Silver Cloud waa wrecked on coming into harbor this morning. The pilot brought her in at ebb tide, and she was safely got over the bar when the current slewed one end round on to a boqlder bank. All efforts were made to save her and she was got off, but owing to the itrength of the 1 current the hawsers which secured her snapped, and she went on to another bank, falling over on her side, when her sternpost and rudder were torn away, and she sustained other severe damage. The vessel is insured in the New Zealand Company for L 3500. The rain fair takes place to-morrow. The entries are not so large as last year, especially from foreign flocks. It is probable that as the Governor will arrive on Sunday there will bo no official

reception. An address was prepared for presentation by the mayor under the belief that the arrival would be on Saturday.
