KAKANUI ROAD BOARD.

A meetin? of this Board writ held on Saturday, the 14th inst., at ndnti, fit the offices of the Board. Present — Messrs G-il-ehrisfc (in rhe chair), M. Hoi meg, Mowat, Maoauly, M'Lonnan, Gemineli, ToBchemaker, Wade, and Wheatley. The minutes of the previous meeting wore confirmed, and the outwnrd correspondence was read and approved. On the motion of Mr Holmes, seconded by Mr Wheatley, Mr E. A. Julius was appointed Solicitor to the Board. Some discussion took plsce with regard to the banking account, and it was ultimately resolved, " That the Chairmnn wait upon the Managers of the Bank of New Zealand and the Bank of Otago, and make enquiry as to whether they will grant the Bonrd facilities to the amount of its borrowing powers, and if so, at what rate of interest — a definite offer to be submitted in writing." Witli regard to the fees for driving cuttle and horses to the pound, it was resolved that they bo the same as prescribed in the Impounding Ordinance. It was directed that the Engineer be requested to ekatnino the crossing of the Island Stream, neat 1 Mr l^enwick's, and to report at an early date. Accounts from Mr O. GK Moore and B". Wallace were presented, and referred to the Sub-Committeo for report. Mr Farrnr's resignation of his seat at the Board was handed in and accepted, and Mr Mm'tin was elected in his stead. The Valuator's roll for the district was approved, accepted, and ordered to be advertised in the KoSth OtaGO Times, as open for inspection. Notices of objection to be in writing, and to be lodged with the Clerk of the Board on or before January 16th. Day of appeal. January, 25, 1873. Certain repairs at the crossing of the Island Stream wero ordered to be executed, cost not to exceed L10. At this Btage the meeting adjourned till 3 p.m. On resuming, Mr Aitkonhead was also present. It was resolved that the following be declared Main District Roads, vi*. — the Capo Rond, from Oainaru to KakauUi ; voild line from north corner of section 55 and 57, block X., Oamaru District, thence nlong present line of road to Mnheno township j road from section 13, block V., Oamaru District, the"nce in a direct lino along the said road to tho south corner of section 9 of same block) abutting on Main North Road ; road commoncing at sections 71 and 72, block X., Oamaru District, and running thence along the present lino of road to the coal pits ; road commencing at the north side of the Kakanui opposite to the Quar>'v Rosorvos, and running thence towards the Wainreka, a9 far as the boundary of the Lambourne subdivision. It was further resolved, " That an embossed seal be obtained for the Board under the direction of the Chairman." Also, " That the Clerk communicate with the Provincial Government, and fiBcertain what will be the amount of subsidy for the present year." The Board then adjourned.
