STEWARD'S COMMITTEE that a number of Dunedin gentlemen havo determined to come up and record their votes, so as to secure, if possible, the return of Mr Macassey, the LOCAL VOTERS are particularly and individually requested to RECORD THEIR VOTES, so that uo Duuedin influence prejudicial to the interest! of thi3 District shall be used. Tho accuracy of (ho above statement has been challenged by Mr Macassey's supporters, but it can easily bo proved to tho satisfaction of anyone who may take the trouble to enquire that facts only have been stated. It is to be regretted that Mr Macassey's Committee should have made personal allusions even to a diminutive supporter of Mr Steward. Tho Committeo can assuro the electors, however, that the statement is not false or unfounded and not " a wonderful discovery" of the " little man" referred to, but a black and white communication received by the Committee, and confirmed by telegrams. Mr Steward's Committeo is quite prepared to take tho responsibility of having made the statement, and further would request the electors not to be misled by any legal elasticities, but carefully to record their votes for the candidoto who i3 well acquainted with local and not Itunedin requiiemcnts.
