Mangonuii Regatta Club
A meeting of the Mangonui Regatta Club Committee was held in the hall on Tuesday night, Mr. I. Hall occupied the chair. The meeting was convened with the object of winding up the Regatta Club and handing over the balance of funds in hand to the Mangonui Cruising Club which will be carrying on the functions of the Regatta Committee It was pointed out during the discussion that the Club had handed the sum of £lO6 to the Women’s Institute to hold in trust as the nucleus of a fund for a restroom. The balance in hand was between £5 and £6 and it was decided by the majority present to donate it to the Cruising Club, Mr. R. Wrathall being the only dissentient.
The matter of winding up the Club was discussed and it was decided that the Club be wound up forthwith. As most of the Regatta Club are affiliating with the Cruising Club which draws members from Kaitaia and Awanui, they feel that the wider scope will bring more enthusiasts.
