General Business at Kaitaia Borough Council

The monthly meeting of the Kaitaia Borough Council was held in Redan Chambers, Kaitaia, on Monday night, the Mayor-, Mr. D. Archibald Snr., presiding.

On the suggestion of Councillor Clark, who stated that rats and mice were becoming an increasing nuisance in the Borough, the co-operation of the Health Officer is to be sought it. ■organising a local Rat Week. Councillor Weber, who made representation for the re-metalling o 1 Melba Street past the R.S.A. Hal! was informed that this would be put in hand as soon as the grader war available for levelling the surface. Th danger of parking motor vehicles on both sides of Pukepoto Roar near the new State Houses wabrought forward for discussion by Councillor Quilter. He suggested that parking at this place be restricted to one side of the road only so that motorists might have a clearer view of approaching traffic and children pla.ving near or on the road. The Works Committee was instructed to seek the co-operation and advice of the Traffic Inspector (Mr. V. R. Kingdon) and report to a future meeting.
