MANGONUI W.I.

The Mangonui Women’s Institute held their July meeting in Ironside's hall, Mrs. R. T. Wrathall presiding. During business three new members were enrolled : Mrs. C. McKay, Mrs. Renata and Miss Mona Wilton. A report was given by Mrs. S. Harris of Mrs. Sawer’s recent meeting. The roll call was the exchange of a useful recipe. Results of the points competition for the half year were : Large Shield Mrs. H. Foster ; Small Shield Mrs. C. W. Harris and Mrs. Mbffart. The month’s competitions were : Best Handkerchief—Mrs. Stewart 1, Miss D. Wilton 2 ; best Patchwork Cushion—Mrs. H. Foster 1, Mrs. C. Harris 2. After the meeting the Mangonui members were hostesses at a most enjoyable luncheon to the Taipa, Oruru and Te Puhi Institutes. The afternoon was spent in games and competitions. Competition Palendroms was won by Mrs. Tennant ; Musical Broom—Zelda Morey ; Peanut Race—Mrs. Stewart; Alpha Game —Mrs. W. A. Wrathall ; Collecting Articles—Mrs. S. Harris’ team ; '‘unwrapping the parcel,” which caused much fun, was given to Mrs. Browne. The afternoon was brought to a close with speeches thanking the Institute for its hospitality, made by : Mrs. A. Tracey for Te Puhi W.X., Mrs. A. Garton for Taipa W. 1., Mrs, G. Hancox for Oruru W.I.
