L.0.0.F. Lodge Notes
The meeting of the Northern Star Lodge held in the Methodist Hall last week drew one of the biggest attendances for many years. Bro. A. Rae N.G., presided. As arranged on the Lodge programme, Mr. A. Ivl Theed was invited along as a guest speaker and chose as his subject “Erosion, its effects and steps taken for prevention in New Zealand.” This proved a very interesting subject and members showed their appreciation with a vote of acclamation after Bro. K. D. Whitburn had expressed their thanks to the speaker. After the lecture the mat was rolled out and the evening concluded with indoor bowls. The next meeting v/iil be held on Monday the 18th instead of Tuesday, 19th. aKoa Rebekah Lodge Notes Koa Rebekah Lodge held their bimonthly meeting last Monday evening in the Methodist Hall, Sister L. Whitefield N.G., presiding over a record attendance. Two new members were initiated into the Order, and Sister J. Henderson was welcomed after a long absence. Discussion was held regarding the annual Christmas tree for 1.0.0. F. Lodge members’ children and it was decided to hold this function on an evening in December, a Committee being formed to finalise arrangements. Gifts donated by Sister O. Foley were won by Sisters L. Masters and
D. jKirtlan. The social part of the evening: was spent in competitions, winners being Sisters R. Powell and F. McKinnon. Supper arrangements were in the hands of Sisters Sands and A. Knight.
