Herd Testing in the North

Following is a summary of grojp 30-day averages for all cows tested during October by the Northland Herd Improvement Assn. (Inc.) :

SUB-PROVINCE FEDERATED FARMERS MEETS AT KAIKOIIE A meeting of the Bay of Islands sub-province of the Federated Farmers, Auckland Province, was held in Kaikohe on Tuesday. Mr. E. R. Bird was in the chair. Mr. J. W. Jones gave a report on the Federated Farmers’ recent deputation to the Moerewa works, and said that the management of the works gave the deputation a sympathetic hearing, and said that every possible favour would be accorded under ordinary conditions. Mr. Jones said that the P.P.C.S. appeared to be quite satisfied with the result of the negotiations. The Pakaraka branch advised the Sub-Provincial Conference that it proposes to ask the Bay of Islands Dairy Company to act as its agent for booking killing space at the Moerewa works for P.P.C.S. and P.M.A. stock. It was also recommended that all other branches make similar arrangements with their local Dairy Companies. The Conference also moved “that it be a recommendation from this Bay of Islands Sub-Provincial meeting that the Auckland executive endeavour to see that there be the closest co-operation between the P.M.A. and the P.P.C.S. with the ultimate aim of affiliation.”
