MAKOGAILEPER APPEAL
Sir, —I recently visited the Makogai Leper Station and when I saw with my own eyes the splendid work that New Zealand’s sympathy has done there. I felt proud to be a New Zealander. One of the patients, in referring to our gifts, said “It is just these things that make our lives bearable and worth living.” The sufferers made a special request that we would not forget them this Christmas. We have now formed an Incorporated body to continue this annual collection, and we appeal to all, young and old, rich and poor, to help us. Gifts of cash or goods may be sent to me at 172 Bealey Avenue, Christchurch, and all donations will be acknowledged by me personally. A leaflet giving further particulars or a copy of our audited Balance Sheet will be gladly sent on request. With heartfelt thanks for past help and trusting once again in your generosity. I am etc., P. J. TWOMEY, Secretary, Lepers’ Trust Board.
