A TILT AT TEKNION

Sir, —It is with pain we again read of the fancies in our local paper of one “Teknion.” He fancies he has made an election speech against the Capitalist member for the Bay of Islands, but there is no such member. He asks support against the rubber button or kerosene factory member but here again no member has yet been put forward and the Banks and wealthy business member we have not heard of yet. Please somebody tell Teknion the facts of life. The fruits of the Bay of Islands is definitely butter and what we farmers want is farming representation. If Teknion wants us to vote Communist he will have to show us how the Communists can help the farmer, and not slime the Capitalist or button on to foreign affairs or matter. Patriotism is love of one’s country. Teknion in his first letter tiraded England for the war and chaos. Do we understand that Teknion is of another country than our own. The suggestion that rubber buttons and patent paraffin burners have been lost to us by greed or gain is absurd. Patents run out in a matter of years and anyone is then at liberty to copy a patent. In time of war, economy plus efficiency rules the inventions, and competition does the same for us in peacetime. If Teknion wants to get the issues clear before the election why this rubber button nonsense. The only issue to get clear locally is, is the farmer going to be represented in the next Parliament or is he going to be at the mercy of the squint-eyed Government that is farming the farmer.
