QUEEN CARNIVAL
A record crowd gathered at Wainui Hall on Friday night to witness the crowning ceremony of Bella Marsh, Hill-Beach, the winning Queen of the Ahipara Queen Carnival. The children of Ahipara School who took part in the ceremony cannot be praised too highly for the masterly way they each performed their part. Norman Berghan, who played the part of Bishop, acted it to perfection. A haka, too, was an outstanding feature. Mr. Wills (head-master) and the staff of Ahipara School are to be congratulated on being able to stage such a performance with children. The money raised was in the vicinity of £l5O. During the evening Mr. Walsh, vice-president of the school committee, thanked all who had helped to make the carnival a success, and asked the local residents for suggestions as to how the money be expended. Mr. Wills presented the Queen i and each Princess with a very charmins' necklace. ■
