DANCE AT AWANUI

There was a large attendance at the Anglican Church dance in Awanui last Friday and the evening proved very enjoyable. Music was supplied by Mrs. Stitt and Mr. Spitz with extras played by Miss M. Divich. The monte carlo was won by Miss Shirley Subritzky with L.A.C. Merv. Toombs. Tpr. M. Maugham acted as M.C.

Junior Weekly Match The Junior Weekly Match of the Awanui Rifle Club last Monday saw some excellent scores handed in by the lads. It took the very good score of 34 out of a possible 35 to win the shoot for Desmbnd Bird. Victoria Valley v. Awanui The return match between Victoria Valley and Awanui was decided at Victoria Valley last Tuesday evening. Victoria Valley A. turned the tables on Awanui A. by 377 points to 372, but the Awanui B. again beat Victoria Valley 8., the score being 260 points to 245. Individual scores are as follows: Victoria Valley A—L. Ramsey 35, M. Panther 33, H. Tracey 35, S. Cope 38, M. Fisher 34, C. Miffen 26, R. Tracey 39, I. Tracey 43, L. Foster 48, T. Dawson welcomed the visitors, and expressed the hope that now the A. teams were even with a win each, an opportunity would arise shortly to have the deciding match. Mr. H. Switzer replied for Awanui, and thanked the Valley men for a very enjoyable evening, also saying : that Awanui would be only too pleased to have the deciding match at any time or place to be arranged, this sentiment was heartily expressed by the rest of the team.
