KAITAIA GOLF CLUB The first round of the McDonald Cup (handicap match play) took place on Saturday and l’esulted as follows: Parker defeated Bellingham 5—4; Creelman defeated Dyer 2—l; Ladner defeated Dykes 2—l; Stanton defeated Wright 7—5; Hammond defeated Loveridge 4—2; Reynolds defeated Yates by default; McKechnie defeated Fitall 5 —4. Kelly and Harre have still to play their match. The draw foe the second round to be played on Saturday is as follows: Parker plays winner of Kelly and Harre, Creelman plays Ladner, Stanton plays Hammond, Reynolds plays McKechnie. An 18-hole Bogey Handicap will be played in conjuction with the second round. The Club was pleased to welcome back to the course on Saturday one of its most popular members, Jim Hannigan, of the Ist Echelon, on furlough from the Middle East. ■b LADIES GOLF NOTES The sealed holes competition was won by Mrs. L. Yates 50—15—35, runners up being Miss Pile 53—16 37, Mrs. Kelly 52—9—43, and also Mrs. Wright 58—12—46. The sealed holes were 2,3, 6,8, 10, 13, 14, 16 18. Next Saturday a four-ball best ball will be played. Following' is the draw: Mrs. Lupton and Mrs. Stanton play Miss Pile and Mrs. Dykes, Miss C. Wilkinson and Mrs. Creelman play Mrs. L. Yates and Miss Hedditch, Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Perry play Mrs. Wright and Mrs. O’Sullivan, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. J. Yates play Miss Kerr and Mrs. Greenland, Mrs. McKenzie and Mrs. Robb play Mrs. Bellingham -and Miss Rhodes, Miss Frood and Another play Mrs. Stone and Another.
