LOGAN —SPYVE
In the Methodist church, Kaitaia, last Saturday, the Rev. H. Whitfield united in holy matrimony Alice Jessie, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spyve of Kaitaia, and Alexander William, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Logan. The bride, who was escorted into the church by her father, wore a beautiful gown of blue lace, and had as bridesmaids Misses Phyllis Spyve and Ruby Crawford, who were becomingly attired in pink lace. Mr. Joe Masters acted as bestman, and Mr. Arthur Paton as groomsman. After the ceremony, intimate friends gathered at the home of the bride’s parents, where they vocally and liquidly wished the young couple all happiness and prosperity. THIRTY-FIFTH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY On October 9th, at Foster’s Tearooms, Kaitaia, Mr. and Mrs. W. Hazell of Utahi, Lake Ohia, celebrated the thirty-fifth anniversary of their wedding. After serving some years in the Indian Army, Mr. Hazell was married in England, and both he and Mrs. Hazell came out to Australia and after some time to New Zealand, settling down to farm life at Fielding. Their next move was to the Far North, where Mr. and Mrs. Hazell blazed the trail to very successful farming. Mr. and Mrs. Hazell have five fine children, all of whom are also engaged in farming.
Mr. and Mrs. Hazell were the recipients of some very fine presents, including a beautiful silver teapot. Mr. Arthur Scott acted as toastmaster and Mr. Hazell suitably replied, thanking all present for their many kindnesses. The party retired to the talkies for the close of the evening.
