Kaitaia’s Physical Culture Club
At a largely-attended meeting held in Foster’s rooms last Friday evening it was enthusiastically decided to form a gymnasium club in Kaitaia, the name to be The Kaitaia Physical Culture and Athletic Club. The following officers were elected : Patron—Mr. J. T. B. Taaffe ; President—Mr. P. Stone ;. Vice-Presidents —Miss Lawes, Messrs. D. Arichbald, J. Cowie, F. J. Gair, M. Hammond and G. Rickard ; Joint Secretaries— Mr. and Mrs. E. Clark ; Treasurer —Mr. D. Barry ; Cojnmittee—Mrs. Begley, Miss M. Puckey, Messrs. T. Ryan, J. Webster and R. Williams. It was decided that for the present meetings should be held on Friday nights, the commencing night being left for the committee to decide. Also left to the committee was the matter of the annual subscription, but the meeting passed a recommendation that this should be no more than 10/-. • Catholic Dance A successful dance was held by the Catholic social committee in the A. and P. hall, Kaitaia, last Saturday night. The Ritz Orchestra supplied the music, and a monte carlo was won by Miss Lunjevich and partner. The weight guessing for the cake was won by Mr. A. Wilkinson, who guessed the correct weight of five pounds four and a half ounces.
