HERD TESTING COURSE

The Mangonui Herd Testing Association has received advice that the annual herd testing course at the Massey Agricultural College will be held from March 17 to April 7, and the following comments in connection with this course, from the Herd Testing Federation, will prove of interest— In view of the steadily improving conditions and the probability that the industry will be working under guaranteed unices next season, we are definitely justified in assuming that there will be an increase in herds under test. It is of course recognised that associations cannot give a guarantee to a farmer’s son attending the course that he will receive a position next season. However a guarantee can be given that when a vacancy occurs the position will be offered to those men who, with the approval of the association, have attenced the course, and who have obtained their Massey College Herd Testing Certificates. On the other hand the course is a most valuable one even though the student does not ultimately enter into the herd testing work. Anyone considering taking the course should make immediate application to the Registrar, Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, or should get into touch with the secretary of the Mangonui Herd Testing Association, Kaitaia, who will be pleased to answer any inquiries in this connection.
