The organising committee for the Kaitaia Anglican queen, Miss D. Mclntosh, have arranged an old-time dance in the Parish hall on Friday August 9. On Thursday 22nd a flag 500 afternoon will be held, and the next evening, Friday 23 a Children's Party will be held in the Parish hall. » * * * At the old-time dance in the Parish hall next Friday, in aid of the Kaitaia Anglican queen, a waltzing competition will be held, for which good prizes are being given. * * * * In furtherance of Miss Avery Carr’s campaign a ball is being held in the Valley hall on Friday August 23. * * * * A strong committee has been formed in Herekino to further Miss Huia Berghan’s candidature for the Queen carnival contest, and this committee is at present considering holding various functions to raise funds. * * * * A meeting of the committee organising for Mrs. Roy Kelly in the Queen carnival contest was held this week. Final arrangements were made for the hard-up dance in Kaitaia on Tuesday. Although the supper will be of the hard-up variety it will still be of the usual high standard of Kaitaia suppers. During the evening Miss Thora Warrington will give an exhibition of tap dancing. It is intended to arrange for a street stall in Kaitaia at an early date, also a mock court, while probably during the first week in September a lazy stick and tug-o’-war championship will be held. Late in the month a competition tor dressed dolls and for soft toys made by both senior and junior children will be held.
