UNEMPLOYMENT TAXATION

On Thursday August 1, an instalment of the General Unemployment Levy will become payable, and on the same date the second instalment of the Emergency Unemployment Charge of tenpence in the pound on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March 1935, will also fall due. Information regarding these taxes may be obtained at all money order offices. Provided they have been eligible for relief for at least one month prior to the date when each instalment of the levy became due, the following classes of workers are permitted to pay a levy of only 1/ per quarter: Men employed under Scheme 5 and in receipt of sustenance, all camp workers except those who are paid at standard rates, and gold prospectors subsidised from the Unemployment Fund.
