Labour and the Electoral System If the Government introduces a Bill next session providing for an alteration in the electoral system, Labour’s attitude will have to be decided by caucus. A statement to this effect was made in Christchurch during the Lyttelton election campaign by the National President of the Labour Party (Mr. W. Nash, M.P.). Mr. Nash said that as there was no provision in the party’s platform for an alteration in the voting system, the matter would have to be dealt with at a caucus of the Labour members in the House. He would regard an attempt to change the system at this stage as simply an expedient to save the Government from disaster.
