MANGONUI

The Mangonui Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in McKay’s Hall Mrs. W. A. Wrathall presiding. Arrangements for the forthcoming Fancy Dress Ball were discussed. A letter was received from Wulverton, the Institute’s sister link at “Home”. Two new members were enrolled. Miss E. Steel gave a very interesting lecture and demonstration, helped by the school children, on life saving. The competition for the best thrift article was won by Mrs. W. A. Wrathall, with Mrs. McLea second. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames McKay and W. A. Wrathall.

Recently a very enjoyable afternoon was held when the Mangonui Women’s Institute tendered a farewell to Matron Black and members of the County Hospital Staff in the form of a picnic at Cooper’s Beaoli. Sister Taylor won the competition for drawing in the sand, and a dainty afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the afternoon.
