Death of Mr. W. Burgoyne

It is with regret we record the death at the County Hospital, Kaitaia, early on Monday morning of Mr. William Burgoyne, aged 73, The late Mr. Burgoyne was a very old resident of the district, being in business as a storekeeper in the days when the Mangatete gumfields were being worked extensively. He married a Miss Martin of Mangonui, and is survived by his wife, two sons, S. Burgoyne of Herekino, and' A. Burgoyne of Mangonui, and four daughters, Mesdames G. Powell of Auckland, P. Serbin and H. McQuinlan, o Kaingaroa, am the other daughter is in the Whangarei district. Ihe funeral was held on Wednesday, Anzac Day, when the deceased was laid to rest at the California Cemetery near his old home. The Rev. B. Prior Williams conducted the service at the graveside and there a number of residents were present to pay their last respeots to one who was widely known throughout ihe district.
