Children’s Fancy Dress Ball
Successful Evening Staged by Kaitaia D,H. School From far'and near a large number of children flocked to the A. and P. Hall Kaitaia, in order to attend the Children's Fancy Dress Ball, held there last Tuesday evening, in aid of the Kaitaia School Funds. Arrayed in multi-coloured costumes, the youthful dancers presented a galaxy of colour, as they glided round the Hall to the music of the Versatile Trio. At 10 p.m. when the adults took the floor, the children were treated to supper in the Parish Hall. Special dances performed by children during the evening were .• —My Little Playmate (Infants, Std. 1 and 2); Chariot Barn Dance (Seniors and Juniors); Sellenger’s Round and Skipping Dance (Seniors and Juniors). There was a Grand March also, as wel) as special parades when each class was . being judged. After paying all expenses, school funds will benefit to the extent of about £l4, which will be used for books and other materials urgently required in the school. The judges were Mrs. Roy H. Kelly, Mrs. D. Fisher and Mrs. Davey. For the manner in which tlm children performed the dances, great credit is due to the teachers. Prizes were awarded to the following . Character Costume .
