Personal Mr. and Mrs. J. Forsyth, of Oruru, have returned from a business trip to Whangarei. Mrs. Glossan, of Awanui, and Mrs. J. Miller, of Kohukohu, were the guests of Mrs. H. Boulter, of Oruru, for the week-end. Oruru-Peria Womens’ Institute The monthly meeting of the OruruPeria Women’s Institute was held at Mrs. R. Thompson’s residence, Peria, on Wednesday, 4th. After the minutes of last month’s meeting and other business was dealt with, Mrs. C. R. Grubben read the following motto for the month : “Human hearts are like sitting-rooms—they are less gloomy if the windows are cleaned on the inside.” The Roll Call for the afternoon being “Hints on the Use of a Lemon,” many and varied hints were given on their uses, after which Mrs. R. Thompson gave a demonstration on making stocking hangers. - The judging of thrift slippers was carried out by Mesdames Kelsell and Thompson. Many beautiful slippers were brought to be judged, but unfortunately many of them had to be passed over as not sufficiently thrifty. The following ladies received marks : Mesdames Walton, Hancock, Grubben,

Garton and Grant. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames B. Grigg, C. R. Grubben and Reg. Foster, who served a dainty afternoon tea, after which a hearty vote of thanks was accorded them.
